2 cups sifted flour | 2 eggs, separated |
3 tsp baking powder | 1 ½ cups milk |
1 tsp salt | 6 Tbs melted shortening or salad oil |
2 Tbs sugar |
1. Sift together the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.
2. Beat egg yolks; add milk and melted shortening. Pour into flour mixture and – stir just enough to moisten dry ingredients. Fold in egg whites which have been beaten until stiff but not dry.
3. Grease a hot waffle iron if necessary and pour batter to one inch from edge.
Bake four to five minutes. Serve hot.
